Five Attorneys From Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak Named 2021 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars
For the second straight year, five attorneys from Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, an elder law firm with locations in State College, Williamsport, Wyalusing and Wysox, have been named 2021 Super Lawyers® and Rising Stars. Attorney Julie Steinbacher, the founding shareholder of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, and Attorney Amos Goodall were both named Super Lawyers, which represents the top five percent of practicing attorneys in each state. Attorneys Jenna Franks, Landon Hodges and Brittany Smith were once again named Rising Stars.
Produced and compiled by Thomson Reuters, Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is patented and multiphased, and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Selections are made annually and on a state-by-state basis.
The Rising Stars selection process is the same as that for Super Lawyers, with one key difference: candidates must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. All attorneys first go through the Super Lawyers selection process, with those not selected as Super Lawyers but meeting either of one of the Rising Stars eligibility requirements remaining eligible for the Rising Star designation. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, Rising Stars represent no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in each state.
Does Your Power of Attorney Have Everything it Needs? Find Out in Podcast Episode 48
Let's say you have a Power of Attorney. That means you're covered should circumstances ever arrise in which the POA would need to be invoked, right? Not necessarily. In fact, POAs now must be more specific than ever in Pennsylvania due to a recent law change. A cookie-cutter document likely won't cover all possible scenarios, or even all of the more common situations we see in our day-to-day work.
In the Second Half of Life Podcast episode 48, which is just over five minutes long, Attorney Jenna Franks and Long-Term Care Planner Kristin Daugherty talk about the importance of not only have a Power of Attorney, but also that the document is done correctly and accounts for all reasonably possible situations. Kristin also gives an example of something that all financial POAs should have and if they don't, could create a major problem when trying to protect assets from long-term care costs.
