Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, an elder and special needs law firm with locations in Altoona, State College, Wilkes-Barre, Williamsport, Wyalusing and Wysox, Pa., is pleased to announce that the Law Office of J. Howard Langdon in Muncy, Pa., has joined SGY, effective May 20, 2024. The now former office of Attorney Langdon, located at 3 South Main St. in Muncy, will become SGY’s seventh office location.

As part of the transaction, Attorney Langdon, who has been practicing law in Lycoming County since 1975, will become Of Counsel with SGY as he embarks toward his eventual retirement. Additionally, SGY will be branching out its practice area of law to include all aspects of real estate transactions, including both buyer and seller representation for both commercial and residential properties. Attorney Langdon, who has practiced real estate law for several decades, will assist SGY in setting up this new practice area.

“My staff and I have had the opportunity to work with Howard Langdon for several years on various cases and in all my dealings, I was impressed with his integrity and quality legal representation,” said Attorney Julie Steinbacher, CELA, founding shareholder of SGY. “He has served his community in Eastern Lycoming County and beyond extremely well during his long and distinguished career and we look forward to providing that same level of service that his clients have come to expect over the years. We are also grateful to Attorney Langdon for agreeing to stay on as Of Counsel to further assist us with the Muncy office.”

“Real estate transactions are often a big part of both the estate planning and estate administration processes, so this gave us a perfect opportunity to establish our own real estate practice, which will help us even better serve our current and future clients,” said Attorney Landon Hodges, partner at SGY. “Bringing on a new office in Muncy will also help us better serve our clients in Eastern Lycoming County, as well as those in parts of Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union Counties with a more convenient location. We are excited to begin offering the firm’s full suite of elder law services out of our newest office.”

SGY was founded in 2002 by Attorney Julie Steinbacher, who opened a single office in Williamsport, Pa., and for over the last two decades, has assisted thousands of clients with their legal planning needs for their second half of life. The firm acquired the State College elder law firm of Goodall & Yurchak in 2015. In 2021, upon the retirement of Attorney Leslie Wizelman, SGY acquired her former elder law firm with locations in Wyalusing and Wysox. In 2023, the firm opened new locations in both Altoona and Wilkes-Barre. The firm’s mission is to provide protection in times of prosperity, security in times of uncertainty and comfort in times of crisis. It provides a full suite of elder law services, which include but aren’t limited to wills, powers of attorney, special needs planning, estate administration, guardianships, long-term care planning, nursing home Medicaid planning, wealth protection and tax planning, business succession planning, veterans’ benefits planning, elder care navigation, and Alzheimer’s and dementia planning. The vision of the firm has been to provide individuals and their families with a unique plan to protect their assets for their spouses and future generations, while providing for their immediate and long-term needs.
