The 12th annual Dr. Alexander Nesbitt Commitment to Caring Award was presented to Traci Schultz, Executive Director of Wolf Run Village Senior Living Community! The award ceremony occurred during an in-person Healthcare Decisions Day event on hospice and end-of-life care.

Traci Schultz has lived an exemplary life of caring that has spanned throughout her entire career. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Albright College and earned her Personal Care Home Administrator and Assisted Living Administrator licenses from Penn State University. Since 2010, Traci has been graciously serving the residents of Wolf Run Village Senior Living Community. She started as the Finance Director and within six months was quickly promoted to Executive Director.

Under her leadership, Wolf Run Village has experienced substantial growth all while maintaining a noteworthy reputation as being one of the area’s premier assistance in living communities. In 2018, a capital expansion project occurred as 29 Independent Living townhomes were built. Along with a community building for enhanced socialization, these units provided additional maintenance-free living options for tenants aged 55 years or older.

A strong advocate for Veterans, Traci continuously organizes coat and blanket drives, food collection items for children of Veterans, and educational workshops on available services such as Aid and Attendance that help our senior Veterans get the financial and medical assistance they need. In addition, Traci is heavily involved with the Alzheimer’s Association. She volunteers her time at the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s and is also a co-facilitator of the Muncy Alzheimer’s Support Group.

Traci is an animal lover! She is recognized as a certified pet therapy handler through Therapy Dog International. In this role, one might say her most sweet and cuddly of all, she gets to bring Lucy the Bichon Frise to work with her daily. Both the residents and staff at Wolf Run Village can’t help but smile when Lucy wags her fluffy little tail into their rooms. This is Traci’s second Bichon to earn certification as a therapy dog.

A firm believer in aging in place, Traci works extremely hard with each resident that moves into Wolf Run Village to keep them as independent as possible for as long as possible. When it’s been determined that the end-of-life is near, she passionately advocates for hospice services to allow the resident to stay in the place that is most familiar and comfortable to them optimizing their overall quality of life.

This expansive dedication to helping others is why Traci Schultz was selected this year as the recipient of the 12th annual Dr. Alexander Nesbitt Commitment to Caring Award.
The Dr. Alexander Nesbitt Commitment to Caring Award was developed by the elder care law firm of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak in 2014. In his opening remarks, Dr. Nesbitt spoke about the award, and acknowledged the 2025 recipient. “People such as Traci who selflessly put the needs of others before their own and help brighten our world are few and far between and deserved to be recognized,” said Dr. Nesbitt. According to Attorney Julieanne E. Steinbacher, the award, inspired by Dr. Nesbitt, recognizes an individual(s) or nonprofit in the community who shows an extraordinary commitment to caring that significantly improves the lives of others.
