Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, an elder law and special needs law firm with seven locations across Northeastern & Central Pennsylvania, has been named to Pennsylvania Business Central's Fifty to Follow Women-Owned Businesses, an annual list of the top 50 women-owned organizations in its coverage area. Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak was founded by Attorney Julie Steinbacher, CELA, LLM, in 2002 in Williamsport. It has since grown from a single office to seven, and also counts two other women as partners in Attorneys Jenna Franks and Kathleen Yurchak.
This marks the fifth straight year and the eighth time in the last 10 years that the law firm has appeared on this annual list. SGY also was named to the "Fifty to Follow" list of women-owned businesses in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021-24. The list appears each June in PA Business Central's Women in Business special edition. Readers of the publication submit nominations from communities across its 23-county readership, and the final list is chosen by a blue-ribbon panel. The final list represents both large and small, and well-established and start-up organizations.
Prior to founding the firm, Julie was a social worker in a long-term care facility, where she saw first hand the consequences of not properly planning for one's second half of life, and all of it's possible occurances, both likely and unlikely. As an attorney, her goal, and that of the law firm, is to bridge the gap between legal services and the aging network. With that goal in mind, the law firm hosts multiple seminars most every month of the year about issues and topics that affect those who are aging. For a schedule of upcoming such events, visit our seminar page.
Julie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Widener University School of Law and is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) through the National Elder Law Foundation. She also earned her LL.M. in Elder Law and Estate Planning from Western New England School of Law, and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel (ACTEC), one of only 84 in Pennsylvania. Julie is also one of only 65 Certified Elder Law Attorneys (CELA) in the state, with Attorneys Jenna Franks and Landon Hodges being two of the others, and is one of just eight attorneys in Pennsylvania with both credentials (as of July 2025). Julie has also been named a Super Lawyer® for the last six consecutive years.
Attorney Kathleen Yurchak has been practicing law in Centre County since the 1980s, and along with Attorney Goodall, founded the law firm of Goodall & Yurchak in State College in the 1980s. That firm was acquired by Steinbacher Law in 2015, and the combined firm became Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak. Her primary area of practice is estate administration. Kathleen was named to PA Business Central's Top 100 People in 2022 and 2023, and has been named a Super Lawyer® in each of the last four years.
Attorney Jenna Franks joined SGY in 2017 as an associate attorney after beginning her law career in Florida, where she attended law school and remains licensed to practice law. She became a partner of the firm in 2022, and has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in each of the last six consecutive years. Jenna has also co-authored, along with Julie, the 2021 and 2022 Supplements to the Pennsylvania Trust Guide: A Handbook for Trustees and Their Advisors. She is one of the 65 CELAs in Pennsylvania, and in 2023, was named the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County’s (CBICC) Employee of the Year.
