Attorney Amos Goodall, an Emeritus in Elder Law and Of Counsel at the State College law firm of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, was named as Chair of the Appeals Commission of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
The Certified Financial Planner Board (CFP) sets and upholds standards of competency and ethics for financial planners. There are over 100,000 CFP professionals. The Disciplinary and Ethics Commission reviews and takes action on allegations of violations of the Board’s code of oethics and standards of conduct. The Appeals Commission is responsible for the adjudication of appeal hearings. The Commission has sole authority to issue CFP Board’s final decision when an individual appeals an order of the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission or an Administrative Order. Amos was previously a public member of the Commission, and has also served on the CFP Board’s Disciplinary and Ethics Commission and the Competency Standards Commission.
Amos is also the former chair of the Board of the National Elder Law Foundation, which is the only national organization accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) to certify attorneys in elder and special needs law. He has practiced law in State College since 1976.
