Each quarter, employees from Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak routinely particpate in community events. Here's a summary of the various activities that SGY representatives took part in during the first quarter of 2020 (January-March).

Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak is a longtime member of the Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce (WLCC), and in January, the firm also became a member of both the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County (CBICC) and the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce (CMCC). Events held by those two organizations and attended by Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak staff members included Business After Hours at Java Momma in Danville on Jan. 29, the Danville Child Development Center on Feb. 26, WPSU in State College on Feb. 27, and the CMCC’s Annual Meeting at Frosty Valley Resort on Feb. 18.

Several staff members attended various business networking functions to further develop existing and establish new business relationships with other professionals in the communities we serve. Events attended included WLCC PM Exchanges at Savoy Contract Furniture on Jan. 23, Hughesville High School on Feb. 6, Lycoming Engines on Feb. 20, and Wine & Design on March 12, as well as the WLCC’s Annual Meeting at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Williamsport on Feb. 13.

“I’m going to burn down this house” my grandmother screamed at 1:00 a.m. after getting up for the third time that night.

Providing a week of much needed respite for my parents, my aunt and uncle were terrified, exhausted, and unprepared for how to help my grandmother. After years of caring for my grandmother, my step-grandfather brought her to Pennsylvania from Florida. In deteriorating health, he finally admitted he could no longer do the job. My family, as many families are when caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease, was suddenly faced with a variety of challenges and unknowns.

Personality changes, anger, and aggression are all typical for someone suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia can be very challenging and should not be underestimated. A caregiver can be equipped but must take some important steps.

The Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently presented its annual Business Partnership of the Year award to the Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak elder law firm. This annual award, initiated in 2014-15, is presented to an organization that helps promote FBLA activities, contributes to FBLA projects and activities, provides financial assistance to an FBLA local, state or national chapter, helps judge FBLA competitions, and has its own noteable achievements in business and industry while also being involved in civic engagement. The Business Partnership of the Year honor is presented each spring along with several other awards by the PA FBLA chapter at an award banquet, which was held virtually this year on May 15.
