SGY Speaking and Seminar Recap - Fall 2020

Attorneys and other staff members from Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak conduct a number of speaking engagements each month, including speaking at the firm's own seminars and outside events. Here's a summary of the firm's speaking engagements from the fourth quarter of 2020 (October-December). All of these events were virtual. In October, several virtual seminars were held on a variety of aging-related topics. Attendees logged on to Zoom from the comfort and safety of home to learn essential estate planning tips for their second half of life. Among the topics discussed were tricks to beat death & taxes, strategies for managing a healthcare crisis, and community resources available to aid in the care of a loved one who has been diagnosed with Dementia.

Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak collaborated with Nittany Brokerage to host multiple “happy hour” virtual meetings during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These informal events featured speakers Jenna L. Franks, Esq., and Kristin Daugherty, Long-Term Care Planner, Certified Medicaid Planner™, and allowed individuals to ask their estate and long-term care planning questions from the safety of home while sipping on their favorite glass of wine or other beverage.

Types of Long-Term Care Explained in Podcast Episode 45

What if an unexpected health crisis suddenly hits you or a family member, resulting in a need for long-term care? Do you know your options? How will you pay for it? In the Second Half of Life Podcast episode 45, our two all-star long-term care planners, Kristin Daugherty and Tammy Zilske, discuss the different levels of long-term care and what each entails, as well as how each is or can be generally paid for - though each individual situation certainly varies - and which ones are eligible to be paid for by Medicaid benefits (not all of them are). Kristin and Tammy are two of only about a handful of Certified Medicaid Planners in all of Pennsylvania, and they work with clients each day on qualifying for Medicaid in these types of situations.
