Julie Steinbacher and Amos Goodall Named to PA Business Central's 2021 Top 100 People List

For the second consecutive year, both Attorney Julie Steinbacher, CELA and Attorney Amos Goodall, CELA, LLM, have been named to the Pennsylvania Business Central Top 100 People list. This annual list published each January recognizes 100 people representing large and small businesses and nonprofits from throughout Pennsylvania Business Central's 23-county footprint, which includes both Lycoming and Centre Counties, where Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak's two offices are located. The list highlights the vibrant economic and social life of central Pennsylvania by honoring the people who make it happen.

While the 2021 edition marks the second straight year that both Julie and Amos have been named to the list, both have now been honored on this list more than twice. This is Julie's fourth time on the Top 100 People list. In addition to last year, she was also named to the list in both 2016 and 2018. The founding shareholder of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak, Julie is Certified as an Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation, has a "superb" AVVO rating for attorneys and last year was also named a Super Lawyer® for the first time in Thomson Reuters' annual listing of the same name. Julie has lectured extensively for several organizations including the Elder Law Institute, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and many more, and is the president of Estate & Long Term Care Planning, Inc. She has also authored several books in a Protect Your Family series that informs people about planning for the second half of life. In 2020, Julie, along with Attorney Jenna Franks, co-published the 2021 Supplement to the Pennsylvania Trust Guide, which was published by the George T. Bisel Company, Inc. Also last year, Julie was named a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), as she joined Amos as two of only 96 attorneys in Pennsylvania to be ACTEC fellows. What Exactly is the Medicaid Five-Year Lookback? Kristin Daugherty and Tammy Zilske Explain in Podcast Episode 41

If you've ever had to help place a family member into a nursing home or other assisted living facility, chances are you may have heard about something called the Medicaid five-year lookback? If you don't have any experience with a loved one being in a nursing home, then we certainly hope that you won't need to in the future. However, statistically, one in five people will need long-term care at some point in their life. So, before you or a loved one have an unexpected health crisis that results in a need for long-term care, it would probably pay to be aware of this five-year lookback for Medicaid - in the form of being able to retain more of your own assets for your estate.
